A seven day trip to Southern Albania consisted of taking deep, calming swims in the beautiful Ionian Sea. Located in the center of the Mediterranean, crystal blue waters fill the white rock beaches to make up the shoreline of Sarandë, Albania. As the hot summer sun began burning my skin the deep blue waters became ever so appealing. Beside me, my younger brother lay afloat upon the clear waters with his snorkel fitted, chasing the various fishes of the sea. My mother watched us as we dove into the powerful waves crashing down on the rocky shoreline while the sun set in the horizon like an oil painting on canvas. I swam past them where the water was calm, allowing my body to float effortlessly. I closed my eyes and my mind was blank. There, I found serenity.
